EVA 01 — Urban Drop (Santiago, Chile)

A CGI intervention inspired by the Evangelion universe, where EVA 01 descends from the Costanera Center into the city of Santiago.

The piece is built from a first-person perspective, creating a more immersive and grounded experience, as if the viewer is witnessing the event in real time.

The focus was on achieving a believable integration between the real environment and the digital character, carefully matching scale, lighting, and perspective while delivering a short but impactful narrative.

Process

The project began with the initial concept and storyboard to define the sequence, camera perspective, and key moments. Real footage was then captured on location, focusing on angles and movements that would support the integration of the CGI elements.

In post-production, the shots were prepared for tracking and camera matching, followed by 3D modeling, look development, and animation of the character. Lighting and compositing were carefully adjusted to blend the digital elements with the live-action footage, resulting in a cohesive and believable final piece ready for social media.
